SHOULD HAVE BEEN

I dreamt I saw you dreaming of things you should have embraced,
A million single joys traded for one single, selfish death.
Destiny be enraged.
So much careful planning,
Her precious time consumed,
A million souls she did disrupt to allow this life for you.
Magic in its purest form,
The life she did intend.
But every path she guided you to you feared too much to take.
Running instead against the wind to your own life's wake.
And this dark angel's wings beat in a rhythm so strong and quick,
I nor you, in our meek and broken bodies,
Could ever have the ability to outrun it.
